THYROID DISEASE

THYROID DISEASE
HYPOTHYROIDISM

Hi there - I suffer from Hashimotos myself (a genetic gift from my Mum!) & my hypothyroidism has been an issue for me since it was first diagnosed after the birth of my 2nd son about 8 years ago. I wanted to write a blog for others like myself who suffer from thyroid disease & offer some help, support & advice for dealing with the symptoms (hey! who's fed up being fat & tired??!) & mutual ideas exchanging!
Thanks for reading!

The weight one is a real pain as the meds increase your appetite, your metobolism aint working properly so you put on the beef!
I've tried various tablets & remedies - the only thing that honestly works for me is trying to keep it all in control with exercise - i have to work pretty hard at this, in the gym 3 times a week for about an hour each time (running, rowing, cycling, all cardio stuff) & that just keeps the weight in check rather than actually losing any (I need to lose about 8kg) - anyone tried anything that works?

I have recently been diagnoised with Hashimoto's. I think my doctor may be treating me too conservatively. Any suggestions on getting aggressive about treatment? Right now I am 4 months after first blood test with 50mcg of Synthroid. At this rate I might be close to a year before I get to the standard dose of 150mcg.

You have to learn to be patient, hard I know!
I started on a higher dose, lost weight dramtically, then all my hair fell out in clumps - really disctressing, plus I put all the weight back on so honestly I think my body had some sort of shock reaction at having its metabolism kickstarted!
Let your body adjust gradually - I take 175 at the moment having been reduced from 200 - it goes in peaks & troughs for me.
My main battle now is with my weight - I exercise reguarly, but could still lose at least a stone. I just hate dieting though!! :(

HI, I would like to share my exp with you all suffering from thyroid.

I have had
SEVERELY low thyroid for nearly two years now , I did NOT want to end up taking
Synthroid. When came to know about VCO (Virgin coconut oil ) from my friend, I was so
excited to try the Coconut Oil. I took 3 tablespoons a day and within two months, I
returned to my physician and she just couldn't believe that EVERYTHING on my tests
was once again normal! She was so enthused that she has prescribed your product to
three other thyroid patients since then. Your product took me out of the doom and
gloom I suffered for so very long! My muscles have returned to normal... The
depression, hoarse voice, swollen face/eyes and all my other symptoms have
disappeared! there are many brand available in market you need to choose the right
one I have been using MeritVCO. Manufactured by www.excelcombine.com

I have had hashimoto's since i was 12 and yes I take synthroid and no it does not work. I even go to one of the best Endocrinologist in my state. I used to weigh 145 and wore a size 8 even through highschool I only went up one size to a 9. Now I wear a size 16 and its starting to tighten up. To top it off I weigh 218lbs.... I jiggle and I am ugly. I am a newly wed and ashamed of my body and I used to not be back in thinner days. I am a curvy girl and would like to keep that but lose the fat. I do not want to be pencil thin... I think the only way to lose weight is starve myself and excercise... Because thats the only way I have ever lost any weight and thats sad. But its either die fat from a heartattack and everything else that can kill you from being overweight or take the chance of not eating and lose weight and have to deal with all the bad stuff that comes with that atleast I would be smaller and could wear cute clothes and have confidence

My mom had thyroid disease too. She suffered heart palpitations, was over weight, felt exhausted all the time and ached everywhere. When she took desiccated thyroid hormone she felt good. We're glad to see her doing well now.
